Tuesday night May 11

Dear Dad,

The kids have all just gone to bed and I ought to be there too but will talk to you a [friend] [man] first. They have been very busy since Supper drawing pictures, & they are real good for them.

Read your letter this A.M. & glad to hear from you seemed like quite awhile since we'd heard from you. Thanks! for the 5.00 & the map.

Glad you got the oranges, how long was they on the way? How do they suit you & [Mrs F? ]are they keeping all right? Its the winding up of winter oranges, valencias will soon be ready?

That acre out-side of Colony are there oaks on it so we could pitch out tents under or near to one? and How about Water to drink etc? What would you gain by going out side until Fall? [Would ?] they loan us now enough to build a $700.00 house on including your work?

I don't like idea of you putting up any temporary buildings, like when you ^do^ put up a building for it to be where it could stay on the 2 1/2. Then if you do that had better wait until we get this old lumber up there so you can use it and not spoil new lumber.

How far from our 2 1/2 A. is this out-side land and how far from nearest town?

I thot I told you this place I am going to pay only $7.00 per mo. rent and then the 1.50 water rent.

You said it would cost 5 l per square ft to store goods so have you any idea what it would cost? Or why wouldn't it do for you to build a barn or shed on 2 1/2 acres & then store a lot of our good in it? Or would it be better to leave it here until Fall and see how things turn out for us up there?

But don't suppose things here would be very safe. not as safe as in a shed up there.

Its way after 10 now & I can't hardly write, see or think so good night.

3) Has Mr. F. said what rent he would ask us? but he if don't go away until Aug. perhapse it wouldn't be so very pleasant with him there,

Friday A.M. Well! guess you think its long while you've got to wait for letter, but I told you that this wk. was going to be extra buisy, so you surely expected to be neglected a little.

Had I sewing bee yesterday and had a very nice lunch & nice time & got quite a bit of sewing done (wish tho it had been more.) There were 7 of us women & 5 kids.

Last Eve. Mr Webb Jr. & sweet wife & boy called here twice, giving & coming from over nea rhubard patch where they are expecting to build 1 or 2 nice houses over there this Summer I beleive (are waiting for money from East, Mr W. left plans with them & they spoke encouragingly to him. He has good prospects of

Getting quite a lot of work, they think buisness [sic] is picking up a lot, & soon as he gets work expects to give you work, has bid on big job up at Van Nice, he says we have got the cheapest place he knows of right here, he says they have talked it over & thought it over & over they think both they & we'd best not move until next year, especially if things open up here pretty well: so dear I don't know whats best for us to do.

Friday afternoon, girls got up too late to take this to office this A.M. so here it is still so will add more to it altho I am most "snowed in" with work. Since lunch I hailed Mrs. Horlick about the janitor work. Said she didn't know how it would be, that Mr. Harry H. had spoke for it if he didn't get some-else", but she would feel very badly to half to give it to him, as Harry was so quick tempered & loud & spoke up so quick & often was sorry after, & it
