Monday A.M Mar 18-72.

My dear Dedie:-

I suppose you tore this open in a hurry to see what was inside! But there is no news. So I'll settle that at once. I am sitting out in the shade writing while Margaret is asleep in the go-cart. Mr Sherwin had his "sub" take the work to-day and he is it home and has a man to help him plant potatoes and do a number of much need stunts. Fred did such a fine days work saturday and yours truly "raked up" trash all around yard and burned it. Hope Fred can accomplish a lot during Easter Vacation as it needs it so around here. Pearl is washing and hens are cackling and sounds as if something was doing on the Sherwin Ranch today.

[left page] So glad you got home with no serious bad luck, after your poor start. Next time, we will have our clock ahead of time. Poor little Helen, she was looking back and throwing kisses & waving to us and turned around suddenly and bumped the tree. I hope it, (the bump), soon feels better. You must have been hungry when you reached home. Sorry, I did not make you some sandwiches to carry with you. But I am no good for anything it seems. It never occurred to me to give you a dress of mine to put on and you wore your good one all the time. I feel like scolding you for not asking for one or helping yourself. Always do it when here & feel at home & free to ask for anything you want. So sorry I was so absent-minded as not to think of it.

I made Babe's pink bonnets & finished blue rompers buttons & all and did a few smaller stints that day. Next day made my blue [right page] bonnet and made over a petticoat, and did a lot of things during work. I feel so different and have had so much more comfort the last to (two) weeks or since the "settling process" began. And have had more sleep than in months. I went to bed some after eight last night and got up at 6:15 but just feel like sleeping on. Seems as if I cannot get caught up. My weak spells were not quite so bad last week & Babe was like a different girl, so good all day so everything made it easier for me.

No, there was nothing you could do for me in town. I guess I've plenty of old napkins & if everything is o.k., I'll let someone order some later. I would like to have a pair of overalls for Margaret now. She found out one day that she could get down the steps all around house and now she goes up & down & all the way round (the) house

and out to (the) windmill just as hard as she can go. She is beginning to stand alone and walk around (the) wall etc., but she can creep so fast that she doesn't want to take time to walk, too slow for her.

Have not written Mrs. Falwy but will today to tell her how I am. I am not afraid but what she will have plenty of time to get here and I have everything ready for an emergency. She intends to come out anyway about middle of (the) week to see how prospects are. I have not heard from Ada. She said when here that she would be out about middle of(the) month to stay (a) few days but guess she is afraid she will run into a job (underlined). Now, don't worry (underlined). If anything goes very much wrong, Mrs. S. wil phone you and, if ok, write you. It would be a comfort to me if you were nearer and could have you here, (just to look at), but I know your own family needs you and I will not be selfish. Best wishes to Daddy. They must have been glad to see you. Kiss babes all for me. Lovingly, "Ya"
