Dear Sir: -
Your note rec'd.
And regret very much to inform you that it will be impossible for me to assist you in raising your money spring.
Have been sick and lost considerable time, as well as some money this winter. At present, have not a cent to my name. If it were was possible for me to pay you today, would be as much rejoiced to do so as you would be to rec'd it, andm perhapsm more so if such a thing could be possible. And it certainly would be a

relief to myself, as well as the citizens of B. Center.
Will again repeat what I've told often told you viz that as soon as soon I can raise the money to pay you, I'll do so.
Hoping that you will not give yourself any further unnecessary anxiety, but wait patiently and silently until that time comes. I remain as ever,
