[Mifs?] Edith Hartzell Pittsburgh, Pa

Dear cousin: I received your very welcome letter about one week ago and I was glad to hear from you.

I am going to try to answer today, but fear you will find this a very dull letter. I came out to Indian Creek on February 28th. I left White Hall at 7:20 a.m. coming to Pgh. Got a pass from [Dr. Opr.?] and got my trunk. Checked in 5 minutes. Then caught the fast mail train. Came to Connellsville. Changed cars and came up to Indian Creek on accomodation + was in office ready for work at 10:10 a.m. I call this a quick transfer, as the distance was about 80 miles in less than 3 hours. I have this office, days, as my permanent place.

This is a new office right out in the mountains, by the side of the [Youghayhancy?] River

BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD COMPANY.

IN YOUR REPLY REFER TO MY No.

SUBJECT:

With mountains on each [side?] of rising from 400 to 800 feet above.

This will be a, [daisy?,] place to stay in this summer and is also an excellent place to fish, as there is several trout streams near here.

This is the first telegraph office below Ohio Pyle, [Falls?], the great summer resort. if you stay in Pgh. this summer and would like to come out this way + can get a day off duty some time in June, I will arrange so you can come out to Ohio Pyle + then you can see what the mountains are like. The trains leave Pgh. so that you can leave there at 8 a.m. and get to Ohio Pyle at about 10:25 a.m. + leave so you will be back in Pgh at 8:30 p.m.

I have not had any word from home since I came out here but have wrote 3 times. I heard Thomas Hartsough was married a few days after the event seemed over.
