[text left side of page], has been against my phoning you, me being unable to hear the house and Chas getting home too late to phone up either. Mary & Johnnie fret. I don't expect to let another day pass without me hearing from my big "Zooty." I felt like coming over today, anyway. Edie, now take care of yourself, and don't do anything foolish for I want you to hurry.
[text on right side of page], on the sick list. I am doctoring myself, taking my cough syrup and the quinine tonic and expect to be over to see you in a few days. I go down to my meals and stay in my room closely. I have more sense than you think. I have, haven't I? You poor girl. I am thinking of you constantly and wonder if you are not better. up and get well. Eat all you can to for Mrs. Lowry is glad to see you eat. Mind, I hope, [Louise ?], is getting better. Give my love to her. I came home from Archie's Sunday p.m. and I had caught more cold. Somehow, they expected me again this a.m. but, I could not let them know and, you know, Chas will not phone them but, I hope Sarah is better.
