Dear Edith: I suppose you will be greatly surprised to hear from me but, as we are not very busy this morning. Thought I might improve the time by writing to the new bride. You certainly surprised us all by getting married. When I got home the evening you sent the announcement, Emily was dancing around in an excitable manner and says you can't guess who's married and, of course, I mentioned a dozen different names but never once gave an old spinster like you a thought for, I, of course, thought you had given the views of matrimony up some years ago. will be good and kind to your dearly beloved and that he will be the same to you. As you know, it's a matter of better or worse. And I trust yours is for the better, as you certainly deserve a good husband. We made up a box and sent it to you about two weeks ago. I know you will enjoy a good laugh when you discover the contents. Of course, we thought you would find these very handy some day and hope you will appreciate the thought of them being your dear brother Archie's. I suppose Archie has written you all about his new home. He certainly has a very pretty one and is taken great interest in it. He is on his vacation, at present, and all

his time is engaged about the new home. Of course, not forgetting the boy who follows his father's foot steps all over the house, I tell you, Edith, they are a pair. It is really laughable to see them together, at times. Poor Mother has not been very well the last few days, having suffered from her old nervous attacks which leaves her most miserable.
