Nora Springs, IA Dec 10, 1911

Dear brother:

You have no doubt received, before this, the message telling you of the death of our beloved mother on the morning of Thanksgiving Day. We laid her body in its last resting place, by the side of father's, in the family lot in the Rock Grove Cemetery last Sunday.

The funeral was held from the Methodist Episcopal Church in Nora Springs. She died at Levi's home in Rockford, IA.

2 Pneumonia was the direct cause of her death. She was sick but four days. I got here Saturday noon, before the funeral, and spent all of last week trying to get the business straightened out, and expect it will take a couple of days, yet. Before I know just how much money there is left, but think there will be about $700.00 in money and the town property in Nora Springs.

You will get some papers soon regarding the disposal. One is a Power of Attorney, which gives me the power to

complete the settlement of the money part of the estate, and if you will trust me to do it, as the five who were here at the funeral have-- Murray, Levi, Orpha, Emma, Fred, I will do my best for you. If those of you who were not here will sign them and send them on the way, promptly, we will each have our share in about a month's time. But if you do not sign these and there has to be a formal notice served on you and it takes the regular legal length of time, it will

take from six to twelve months and the regular expense of serving such notices which means less money to each of us. I have enclosed, with this letter, a stamped and addressed envelope in which you can put those papers and send it on to Frank. Now, the paper marked "Power of Attorney" must be signed before a Notary Public. The other one, you just sign your name. I have made the brothers and sisters here a proposition on the town property of $50.00 to each one of you, eight, and $100.00 to Murray and I pay all expenses of transfer of papers except, the Notary's fee, when you sign the deed. I would like

you to write me at 1627 Claremont Ave, Pueblo, Colo. and tell me what you think of this and will you sign the deed if I send it to you? As near as I can find out, the property is worth about $600 and I thought, with the extra expense of getting the papers and sending the deed to each one to be signed, and the house needs repairs and paint, so that by the time I have it in shape, and the papers, it will cost me, including my share, $600 or more. But if you or anyone of the family wants it at the same figure, I am willing to take $50 for my share but, will not consent to have it go to outsiders for that money.
