My "dearest" daughter:

I take
my pen in hand, (instead
of pencil), to answer your
precious letter with six
enclosed which I received
yesterday. It found me
recovering from an unusual
sickness. I was taken ill
in the prayer meeting on
Friday night. Left before
it closed and got home
none too soon. I was seized
with purging and vomiting
and continued nearly
all night. Jennie had
to be up with me
