My dear friend Edith:
[illegible], I did not
think anything of the kind. I had
waited so long before answering your
letter that I supposed you had gone
away and it was a long time before
you received it. I thought myself
to blame; but see how good I am
now. There is lots of music down
in the parlor. I left it all and
I shall expect my reward by
an early answer to all any
questions. I forgive you this time.
