Hope St. Newburgh [Cl?]

July 2nd, 1893

My dear daughter:

It seems to be quite a long time since I last wrote to you and thinking, perhaps, you would like to receive from me as well as, [Archie?]. Therefore, since I have insisted upon his writing or, [J?], he would not, [abide?]. [He?], went away this morning and did not intend returning until eve. but, soon came back with your, [Jrostal?], enamoring the sending of the express package and he will go after, [?], [at?], [fire?], [oil?], [?], and hopes to find the office open. Then, I presume it contains many useful things, as usual. Must I lay them away for you or could I use them, if necessary? We are all well, as usual, at, [Jro?], but sickness with, [?], is very common. Archie was the last to leave his bed some two weeks ago. He had taken cold so Dr. H. said and it had, [shown?],

He is not well and strong and I try to, [?], him to, [?], at the,[?], he is at for he is not accustomed to hard work but, will get accustomed to it after awhile and then his hands will not blister and he will be, [?], and receive better wages [?], [?]. on the side of the house, the porches are on and I have, [six?], geraniums growing nicely. One is in bloom. They are in pots and I have a, [B?], which is always blooming and Archie has a beautiful fuschia which was given to him which is loaded with flowers and I have, [?], sweet peas growing. We get milk of Mr., [Ritchenhams?], and they, [?], have given us bouquets of roses. Jennie and I went to the woods for a basket of earth and we gathered wild strawberries and wild roses and daisies and elder flowers and, the next day, we went to the asylum. Found that John Ward had gone home the week before and Nanny Taggart was yelling as, [?], [B?], [ward?], does not, [imagine?]

You did not tell us where to address you, but I will address you at Evan's and perhaps, it will reach you. I am glad you have so pleasant a home to, [go?]. [I?], hope you will soon find a situation. Grand, [J?], [S?], came to L C. just before I left. He came to, [?], to attend a convention and to visit his son, Clarence, but, Clarence had left for Texas the day before. L. C., I believe, did not lose much by the fire and has started in business again with a heavy, [?]. I have the boxes of, [Chryo?], and lilly and fern growing nicely under the windows.

Third excursion to "Cottage Grove Lake," (2 miles beyond the, [Akson?]). It was a Presbyteran Sunday School Picnic. We had a pleasant drive and returned very weary. There were about 300 of us. Uncle and Aunt insisted on me to let Jennie stay there during vacation and I told him she might try. [Richie, Archie?], came home on Thursday after some clothes and medicine, and returned immediately. They are arrainging to go out on the Lake on an M. E. S. S. Evanshorn on the 24th and I have fear of an accident. I took Jennie to see H., week before last, for an examnation and he finds an improvement since the last examination and he is treating her for her cough. He is so very kind and I am ashamed to think we pay him so little. I wished last night, when I called, that I could give himself, [illegible], more than a dollar. I went to see him on Katie's behalf more than myself last, [case]. I will tell you all about it but, don't you worry, nor say one word.
