about it when you write me. I will keep you posted as to results. Katie's feet and legs, particularly her ankles, swell so that it is almost impossible for her to wear her shoes and they are very tender and, [dent], on pressure, and I don't know but what she swells all over, at times. This, I know, has been her condition for more than a week and I don't know how much longer. She don't tell me anything unless she can help it and is so very sorry. So I wanted her to go to see Hudson but, she would not and so I went and told him all I know about her and he says he thinks it is caused by her kidneys and would not attempt the case without first analysing her urine and I am a going to try to get a sample of it for him this week, but she must not know of it. I fear it is dropsy but, hope it is not too late to help her. She makes fun of Dr. H's. treatment, but when she gets down in bed, she appreciates him and not to tell him I told her I never would send for him for her until she could pay him something. She is still employed in the Ohio, [illegible], Office but does not know how long she may stay as she is only filling a vacancy.

Well, I have written you a long letter and did hope to have finished on the last sheet, but have failed. Jennie has forgotten the silk for her ruffle. Do you mind sending it and my time you would like to come home? We will be glad to see you and when we move, I want to, [illegible],

over near Uncle, [LE]. I called on Tom and his wife and Estella. They seem very happy together.

Tom and wife and Isaac, [Dustman], and wife called on us some weeks ago. I must close and write Abe and Mary. Let us hear from you as often as possible.

Your loving Mother.

Don't you worry about anything I have written or I will not write again.

Cleveland O. July 2nd, 1893

Dear Sister Edith:

I just received your postal an hour or so ago and I went down to the express office. But being Sunday, the expressman wasn't there. So I will go down at 5 o'clock this evening again for there is a train that pulls in about that time and stops and the expressman will be there, I think. There is no doubt but the package which you sent is there for I could see, through the window, a large package of some kind for somebody and I will bet you a quarter, it is for me from yourself. What will you bet?? As for sending me anything, you need not mind for I know your word is good. Besides, I am working now and can get along very well now. I commenced work last Tuesday.

morning at A.J. Wideman & Sons Whole Sale Grocers & Provision Store, [A #7.50?], per week which is better than nothing. The bonds for the new engine houses for the fire department is to be for sale on the 7th of this month and, soon as they are sold, they will make their apointments which I expect will be sometime this month or next. I stood 88 4/10, [%?], in my examination. So you see, I will stand a fair show out of 142 apointments and then I can step out of my present position into a better one. Just think from $30.00 a mon. to $50.00 & from that to $70 or $73 pr mon., won't that be great? Tomorrow afternoon, I expect to go to Salem for the 4th and return in the evening of the same, [4th]. Won't that be magnolious? Just think, 2 years this fall since I have been in the country. Well, I must close for Ma wants to write some too. Hoping this will find you well and wishing you a happy 4th. I close. Write soon or sooner. Your loving brother, A.W.H.
