Your verry [very] welcome letter has just been arrived: Found the one enclosed for which I am very gratefull [grateful] for as I was [outlived means?]. bw: hoped to get some [illegible] from Katie as she had borrowed of me and promised to [illegible]. The [Waist?] was received yesterday afternoon and I have just [illegible] it on. It is just right and [on its] me [illegible]. Many many thanks for it. The collar...

[company] and she was going to leave them just as soon as she could get a [illegible] in Chicago and she might get [illegible] time and would leave immediately and I could then go to Ms Burgh and live with you. I told her she had better let well enough alone. She is so very hateful [[inserted above]: at ?]] and I have had little confidence in her and I do not believe half she says. She has made three or 4 while [introduced?] [illegible] for herself recently, but will not help me to pay for the machine. She [illegible] a great deal more [illegible] So: she did not get back any to [too] soon on Sat. [Saturday] for she was soon [illegible] sick and lay awhile Monday afternoon when she went to see Dr Saunders.

but then [as?] some my [illegible] doings going on. She showed me more than a half dozen neck ties and [stock Jims?] and I don't know what else. That was [illegible] for Easter [illegible]. Also a gold Barch [Broach?] she has got, her new Hat, Green Straw-Sailor milk sash Ribbon and other Simpson Sialor [Sailor], two new shirtwaist and deep shirt. I will enclose samples. The Blue Challice is the skirt and the other the waists she made. The Waists [illegible] the skirt made. She will not get me anything for the house, and jaws when we 2 talk about it. She said yesterday that she did not like Cleveland. [illegible]

[left page] for is all right. Maybe Katie will get me a belt and give me a [illegible] and she has talked of getting me a new hat or [illegible]. She returned very unexpectedly on last Sat. [Saturday] noon from her trip. She started Thursday night for [illegible] a or [illegible] she did. I asked her for [illegible]. She said it was only a bluff about Father being sick and she went about [8mo?] hundred miles a [illegible] instead of going to Tenn. Also said in reply to my many questions that she would some time tell me all about it, but not now, so I can not tell you much more about it.
