THE McINTOSH-HUNTINGTON CO HARDWARE TINNERS STOCK BICYCLES CUTLERY AND THE CELEBRATED McINTOSH TOOLS AND MIXED PAINTS CLEVELAND, O. Aug 2 1878 Dear Edith: I enclose a sample of the insulting letters I have been receiving from our mother. I do not intend to answer it or write her any more letters. I know just how she is, and she could come home if she choose and I would go after her, but I believe she is merely carrying out plans made before she left. If she was really sick, that is bad. I would spend my last cent on her, but as it is she could be home, and I would manage to get the work done; as I have before. We all feel as though we would like to do nothing but rest sometimes, I suppose, but thank fortune we are not all so selfish. I have forgotten your address so will send to {Evans ?] , and they can forward. Hope this will find you well and happy. Mabel

I feel that what my opinion of her is better left unsaid, so I send the letters without any comments. She went to Shepards against my wishes and under the circumstances I have done more than I should have done
