COAST OIL CO.
W.E. MARRION, President and Manager
COQUILLE, OREGON

September 17, 1937

Edith & Alice Grandy,
Monrovia, Calif.

Dear Madam:

Recently you received a notice from the Coast Land
Company, notifying you that the balance was due on the
leases on which you had taken options.

The notice from the Coast Land Company further stated
that in a day or two, you would receive a letter from the
Coast Oil Company, giving the reason for the notice mailed
to you, also giving you a complete outline of the plans
for future operations.

Amongst other things, it is our plan to increase the
value of your holdings in such a way and to such an extent
that all those who exercise their options and obtain their
leases from the Coast Land Company, within the time speci-
fied in their notice to you, will be placed in a position
to begin to realize on their investments almost immediately.

We have this letter, containing our plans, completed
and ready to mail, but before doing so, we are submitting it
to our attorneys, as we want to make sure that everything
contained therein will comply with all California laws.

Just as soon as we receive the opinion of our attorneys ,
we will mail you a copy of the letter, which should not be
later than next Tuesday.

We feel sure that this delay is to your advantage and
for your protection as well as ours.

Yours very truly,

COAST OIL COMPANY,

by W.E. Merrion

President and Manager.
