Boston Aug't 13th 1754
Messrs Champion & Hayley

{Gentlemen}
Since the sealing our Last
have received a Letter from a Friend of ours, who was
desirous of sending to London for Black Padusoy suffi=
=cient for a Suit Cloaths for a Lady middling Stature.
& having no Friend at Home to write here for, desired us
to do them this favour, if we had a Friend we could
depend upon, accordingly informed them we correspond
=ed with your House. & that they might rely on it. if we
wrote you herefor, that it would come as good of the
sort, & as well cought as if they were present in Person.
And this we would add that to recommend your House
as we have opportunity, has been our Custom, since we
first Corresponded with you, & hope our recommendations
answer Expectations ----- In Consequence of which have
received a Bill of Exchange for £5.11 us Sterl'g in part
for said silk, which now Inclose you, drawn {per} {William} Bont[ier?]
in fav'r Box & Austin, & endors'd by them to us, which hope
will be duely honour'd & when paid please to pass to
our Credit, the Remainder will remitt you soon.
Have Inclosed you a Pattern, but would not have
you so conform to that, as not to send a Better if
you have opportunity. The Lady it is design'd for
would have the silk soft, with a large handsome Whale
& a good Black, in short as good a Padusoy as can be
bought -- Must begg your special Care in this Thing,
as the Person it is design'd for has frequently occasion
to send to London for many Things, & has been long Time
waiting to get a silk agreable, which may serve as an
Excuse for our being so verbose in writing you.

Depending therefore on your Care herein. We
subscribe ourselves with Respect

{Gentlemen}
{your} Very {humble}{Servant}

P.S.
Please to observe, that we desire you
not to Insure the silk, if you could ship
it so as to be here before Winter, the Time of
hazard should be glad, other ways send it
{per} first Spring Vessell, {per} {Captain} Ferreter & Kirkwood
