Settled and fixed as well by the Laws of the said Island &
by the Authority of the Gov.r {Governor} & Council there as by ancient
Custom & being no Fees whatever due to the Masters of the
said Court for Sales of Estates settled & fixed either by the
one or the other Your Pet.r {Petitioner} humbly apprehends sufficiently
evinces & incontestedly proves Your Pet.rs {Petitioners} Right to be
preferable to that of the Masters & that Should that Right
by the Sanction of the said Court of Chancery be ---
transferred from Your Pet.r {Petitioner} the Deputy of His Majestys
Patentee to the Masters attending the said Court the same
would be a great Injury not only to Your Pet.r {Petitioner} the Deputy
but likewise to his Principal the said Francis Reynolds
And to the s.d {said} Office in Your Majestys Nomination & ---
appointment as it must necessarily deprive the present
and all future Provost Marshals of their Fees to ---
accrue to him or them hereafter from the Execution of
the s.d {said} Office in those Instances which Your Pet.r {Petitioner} humbly
apprehends are his & their just Right & the same
wou'd {would} virtually rpeal his Majestys said Letters Patent
as the Profits arising from the other Duties of the said
Office will not defray the Charges & Expences attending
the Execution of the same. ---
