REFERENCE. The Borough of Clinton is situated on the River Unadella, a Branch of Susquehannah River, which is navigable & emptys itself into the Chesopeak Bay. It abounds with several Sorts of Fish, particularly Salmon, Trout & Shad in the Spring. The Country is in general round it very fine, & no ways mountanous, the Vallies in general are exceedly rich, & of a Black Soil, & when cleared produces excellent Meadow, as for the upland it is no way ragged or Stony, but if cleared will produce grain of all kinds, but best calculated for wheat, as for the Timber in general it is very large, particularly the White Oak, being very full of large branches & fit for Shiping, here are Wild Cherry, Beach, White & Yellow Pine, Maple, &c, of the Maple the Inhabitants make Sugar annually for their own use &c,; This Town contains about 240 Acres, & is divided into 1212 Lotts.
