One leaf containing a page of handwritten biographical notes on Revolutionary War hero General John Stark in Bentley's hand. The note is written on the verso of a short letter from J. Pitcairn regarding a deliver for the "Rev. D. Bently" dated March 2, 1810. The notes were likely copied from the biographical sketch published in the Essex Register May 1, 1810.

{General} John Stark [?] 1810 The Hero of Bennington & Cincinnatus of America. He was born in Londonderry {New Hampshire} in 1728. at the age of 21 he was taken by the Indians & ransomed. He was a Lieutenant under Rogers, & afterwards commanded a Company of Rangers was with the American Army after the battle of Lexington & received a Colonel's Commission from Massachusetts. He was in the action of Bunker Hill. He held a Command in the North after the evacuation of Boston & was in the action of Trenton. He took {Colonel} Baum and his Hessians in August 1777 & after, was commanded in the action at Bennington.
