Natick 3 {March} 1778
Sirs
As the honorable and reverend Corporation of Harvard College are jointly concern'd with the honorable & reverend {Commissioners} at Boston, in my Support, and as by the calamities of the present Times no Remittances can be made from the Funds out of which I have received my Salary and as several of the Commissioners have mention'd it as their Opinion that a way might be prepared for the College [Treasurer?] to draw Bills upon the Treasurer of the Corporation in London by the assistance of or in conjunction with the Treasurer of the Commissioners. This waits upon you with a Request that the College Corporation would take the matter into their consideration, that if they find it [illegible] practicable, I may be enabled by them to draw a Bill in some such manner as I was impowered by the Commissioners --- I should not give the Corporation this trouble if I was not a considerable sufferer by the Distraction of my interest at Charlestown & if I was not also considerably involved in Debt --- As I have now an opportunity of disposing of a Bill to advantage, I doubt not the Corporation will accommodate me if they it is in their power especially as the future Scenes & operations of the war may for a considerable Time deprive me of such an opportunity
I am, Sir, yr most {obedient} & & very humble {servant} {Stephen} Badger
{Reverend} President Langdon
