Proposed Regulation for the Diet
of the Scholars at the College, & for a Supply of Necessarys.

1. That all the Scholars living in College shall without exception
breakfast dine and Sup in the College Hall; saving, in Case of Sickness,
when they shall be under the direction of the President; or in his ab-
sence, of such Gentlemen belonging to the Corporation as reside in
Cambridge.

2. That the Necessary Provision, for this purpose, shall be pur-
chased by the Steward, with the College Stock, without his making
any advance or Proffit thereon.

3. That the allowance to the Steward shall be as follows viz [followed by truncation symbol]:
£150 {per} {annum} Salary & £50 {per} {annum} for Cooks & other help: in Conside-
ration whereof he shall at the College Expence, Provide Breakfast
Dinner & Supper for the Scholars & do the whole duty of Steward
without any other fee or Reward.

4. That the Buttery be supply'd out of the College Stock & be
furnish'd, as the Corporation shall order, with Wines & others Liquors,
Tea, Coffee, Chocolate, Sugar, Biscuit, Pens, Ink & Paper & other sui-
table Articles for the Scholars, and {that} the Butler advance £15 {per} Cent
upon what he delivers out to the Scholars for the College Stock & have
a Salary of £65 {per} {annum} for his Trouble.

5. That the Tutors always dine in the Hall, unless occationally pre-
vented, and have Liberty to ask any Strangers to dine with them.
And perhaps it would not be amiss, if the President & Proffessors would
now & then dine in the Hall with them.

6. That there always be 2 Dishes for Dinner; a Pudding of
some sort to be one of them, except on Saturdays Salt Fish alone &
not to have the same Dish ordinarily above twice in a Week, Pud-
dings excepted; That there always be Chocolate, Tea & Coffee for Break-
fast {with} Bread or Biscuit & Butter; and Bread & Milk or something
equivalent for Supper.

7. That every Scholar enter his name, every Fortnight, with the
Steward, what of the respective Articles he chuses for Breakfast
or Supper, that he may provide accordingly, and that the {Scholars}
inform him when they have obtained Leave to be absent for a Week
or longer; otherwise {that} they be charged for their Diet.

8. That every Scholar pay 7/. {per} Week for his whole Diet. ----
{which} will pay for the Provisions; for the allowance to ye Steward &
Butler & for fire wood: and {per} Calculation (provided there be £20
in Commons at one & the same Time on {which} it is made will leave a
