And melt thy passion down to gentle smiles,

Till in the fond embrace they gaind their cause,

And thou wast pleasd tho, conquerd by their charms.

But now alas! no soft entreaties charm,

No soft affections flow, but will be gone;

And from the swiming eyes that glance dispair,

Hast turnd thy face & made th' eternal leap

From visible to immaterial worlds ~

Where now the sheep that on thy pasture fed,

Whose voice they oft have heard when wandring far,

With acclamations tune their hearts to joy,

And taste the rich supply thy bounty gave ~

O! man of God, with majesty arrayd,

Free to dispence, & studious to teach,

All graceful in thy mien & bold to speak,

Unaw'd by man the sacred truth was dear,

And grace supported each reproof that dropt

From thy prophetic tongue, to aid the just
