Or drive the infidel distinct from man,
Till spotless truth & undefiled might shine,
Fair as the Book of God that charmd his soul
Or changd his heart & made it half divine.
Hail! vital spark at awful distance gone,
Dislodg'd from this distracted ball of dust,
In agitation lost by ev'ry blast,
This scene of sin & prison of distress,
Where discords rise & hell may burn on earth,
Farewell from this to distant worlds unknown,
In mortal spirit go & leave in tears
A world that mourns an absent friend & saint
Go enter to that joy prepard for you,
Prepard before the world or you began.
And when this earth to dissolution rools,
And natures last great conflagration smoaks,
And absent souls from distant world shall meet
In essence pure, then may my soul begin
The heav'nly song of endless praise with thee
