On infidelity ~
Aspatius all intent and wandring far
From jollitry & mirth, why thus alone?
Freethinkers court for sordid pleasures all,
And joy to mingle with the busy herd,
Where pleasure dances at the voice of mirth,
And soars above the melancholy thot,
That civil virtue would suggest; why thus
Employd, as if thy soul being overfed
Did loath the dainty dish of fulsom laugh,
Of pleasantry & wit, that swell the breath
Of jaded life, & make it loath itself ~
Can plenitude of joy a burden prove
To souls refind as yours, where naught affrights
Or once a monstrous thot can reach the mind
Portending pain or torture without end?
Where evry busy thot grow big with bliss
