Let better thots invite thy noble birth
And fullorb,d reason once resume her seat,
To teach thy heav'n born soul its excellence,
And bid it rise superior to the brute,
That never acts below his character ~
In this retreat, at distance from the cheat
And bustle of a giddy world that rings
With laugh, with boistrous wit & meriment,
Collect thy soul & let the rural scene
Invite thy solemn thot & lead thee up
To natures God, that did implant within
A soul, resembling God, thou would deny ~
What awful beauties stare with luster full,
And haste to meet the dazzling eye, that dare
In wonder view, the full orb,d pow'r divine,
That would reprove thy infidelity,
By grovling worms of better faith than thou,
And far more happy in their putrid world,
If what thou plead'st for should by chance be true
