And will thou demean thy rational
To grovel in the dirt & sport with worms,
That never raise the unsubstantial laugh
That burst from wit in extacies of joy,
To crown their loathsom life & bid them sport
And happify themselves, then drop to naught
Aspatius, would you listen to the voice,
That nature constantly solicits with,
And pay attention to her precepts, fraught
With interesting truths grown bright with age,
And gay implicity attending all,
Would push thy soul to distant heights sublime
And wrap the up in one eternal truth,
That souls so near akin to natures God,
Must live eternal as their origin ~
For once be civil to the solemn truth,
And let thy modest soul espouse her cause,
And plead her title to eternal life,
Nor give so vast a patrimony up,
