Receipt for a cough -
1. large handful of ground Ivy- 1 ditto maiden
hair - 1 ditto of Horse hound - and one of Elicam-
- pane Roots cut small - boil these slowly together
in six quarts of water, till reduced to one -
strain the Liquor - add one ounce of Liquorish
Ball - one Gill of Honey - one of sharp vinegar
Bruize the Liquorish - and disolve it in part
of the Liquid - then mix it together - and
before mixing shake the Bottle - The dose is
a Tea cup full taken in the morning -
fasting - if not boil'd enough - it will be
apt to occasion a sick stomach -

Receipt for tightness on the Chest -
Take 20 Grains of salts of wormwood
put it into a glass of Lime - or Lemon Juice
1/2 pint of spring water - sweeten'd with sugar
Candy- or honey, a Teaspoonful when ever the
Cough is troublisome - or a tightness is ex-
perienced on the Chest -
For Rhuematism or paralytic affection
2 oz Balsam Capavia 1.oz Balsam peru - 2 [?]
oil of Sassafrass - 10. oz spirits of wine -
6 drams gum guaiacum- 24 grains salt of
Tartar - x
