Drawn out by the heat - These should be removed,
as I have good reason to believe that skippers
are generated ^from by the Eggs deposited by this -
Insect. pack your bacon away again in your
Troughs: a layer of ashes and a layer of bacon
alternately. This should be done as early
in the spring as the Bacon can be properly
smoked. I would advise the middle of April
as the latest period for packing in ashes.

an Excellent Receipt to make Currant Wine -
90 wht of sugar to 30 quarts of Juice - put some
water to the sugar and stir it well Together, put
it into a Barrel, add the Juice to it, and put it
into an upper Room, or garret; when fermented
add two quarts of Brandy; Bung it up, and
let it remain until the next May - then draw
the Liquor off in Demijohns, or another Barrel
procured of Mrs Evans, near [Schaghticoke?] {October} 1822

Excellent Receipt for a Bruize, or Chill, [blains?] &
Take mutton Tallow. the size of an Egg, one Teaspoonful
abd a half of Raisin- Beeswax about the size
of 2 Nutmegs - melted together, and strained -
