— Cambridge, Mass. —
Threatening, but pleasant. This A.M. Elinor & I
took a long walk. Route. Highland St., Fairweather St.
Elmwood Ave. Mt. Auburn St. Coolidge Ave. 1/2 m. & back
past Mt. Auburn, Belmont St. Then up the hill on
the left covered with Oaks, into School St. on
the right, than 1st turn to the right, straight to
Fresh Pond, round the Pond to the right and up
Vassall Lane and Resevoir St. & Highland home.
Gone form about 9.45 to 1.45. The views were
very pretty. Asters abundant. Worked on
my plants in the P.M.
Aster cordifolius, L. } Field off Brattle St near
{Aster} multiflorus, Ait. } Fresh Pond Lane.
{Aster} linariifolius, L. Oak wood - Watertown.

Clear day. Home most of the day.

Pleasant day. At home, at the Square and
at Mother's to-day. This evening I borught Elinor
over to see my Herb. &c. Took her home.

Sept. 23 — Cambridge Mass.
Clear, cool day — George, Helen & May & I have been
on Concord River to-day. George & Helen drove to
9 Acre Corner Bridge. May & I went to Lincoln
by train and walked over there, 2 m. Got a
ride part of the way. Put up the horse and got a
boat. Round some 2 m. up stream. Views
beautiful. Every thing so fresh. Lunch on the
