A most perfect day, cool & breezy P.M.
Rain in the evening. Staid at home this
P.M. reading aloud most of the time.
Mrs. Semple Miss Myers & Bonner left this A.M.
This P.M. I had a fine ride of 18 ½ m.
I went to Acton west from the Reformatory.
The road between these two points is poor.
All the rest of my ride the roads were
elegant. It was a delight to skim over
them. From W. Acton, I went to So. Acton a
and on to Maynard, then by the Powder
Mills road straight home. There is a
most fascinating bit of scenery at Powder
Mills on the bridge. The foliage overhangs
the banks and are reflected in the still
water. I was some 2 ½ hrs. The following
are the distances within 1/16 of a mile.

Miss A. E. Buttricks to Reformatory by way }
of Lowell, Maine & Elm St. 3 ½ \
Reformatory to W. Acton 4 ½
W. Acton to So. Acton 2
So. Acton to Maynard at the } 2
Powder Mills Road
P. M.s Road to Concord Junction 3 ½
C. Junction to Miss A.W. B’s through Concord 3

Miss Harriet brought up from the strawberry
bed to-day a large Belmont. I made the
following measurements with a tape measure.
5 in. in circumference about ½ way between calyx & tip.
2 ¼ in broad & 1 ¼ in thick: 1 ¾ high.
It’s general shape was triangular.
