Glorious day, warm. I have had a fine
ride to-day. I started this morning at
about 10.30 for Weston. I intended to call
on the Robbins and I carried my coat &
vest on my luggage carrier, meaning my thin
black coat. I enjoyed every inch of the way.
I took the straight route by Walden St. and
over Baker Bridge to So. Lincoln and Silver Hill.
The woods by Walden Pond were enchanting in
their beauty & coolness. I went to Weston by
Merriam St. and found thus all the Robbins
were away for the day. I was entertained how-
ever with iced lemonade and cake by the maid.
Then I determined to go to Cambridge. So I sped
on straight to Waltham & Watertown, and with
Watertown Road to Mt. Auburn and then to Sparks St.
Martha & Mary were pleased to see me. George returned from
York soon, and we all dined. I called on Dr. & Mrs.
Coolidge. Mrs. C. is in bed, but her cough is better.
I arranged at home a trip to York Harbor, next
Sat. with Mary. At 4.15, I wheeled up to Porter’s
Station while Geo. & Mary followed in their buggy to
take a handbag for me. I put my wheel on
the train and reached Concord at 5.20. Then
wheeled home here with the hand-bag which I
shall take to York. Margie & I with Carrie & Will
took a mile walk after supper. Distances were:
Buttrick’s to Silver Hill 7 m.
Silver H. to Weston (via Merriam St.) 3 m.
Weston to Sparks St. (via Waltham & Watertown) 10 m.
Extra miles to Porter, Dr. Coolidge & from Concord Depot 3 m.
Total 23 m.

I have had my wheel not quite 4 mo.
and have completed 1000 m.
