One-page handwritten list of 20 numbered theses in Latin presumed to be copied by Bela Lincoln. The document is signed "Lincoln 1754." The document title translates as "Grammar of letters, syllables, words, and sentences" and includes all of the nine theses listed in the "Theses Grammaticae" section of the 1754 Commencement broadside.

Biographical Notes

Bela Lincoln (1733/4-1774), a doctor in Sherborn and Hingham, Mass., was born on March 11, 1733/4 in Hingham. He received an AB from Harvard in 1754 and an AM in 1757. He began practicing medicine in Sherborn in 1756. He sailed for England in November 1764 and received an MD from King's College in Aberdeen. Lincoln returned to to Massachusetts in 1765 to practice medicine in Hingham, and was appointed a Justice of Peace for Suffolk county in 1768. Lincoln died on July 16, 1774.
