The Request of Rebeckhah Shelden Signifyeths That whereas my Husband Ephraim Sheldon has Enterred himself Into his Majesties Service and has Left me with three Children and nothing to Support us with, which renders me uncapable of providing for [?] the Common ncecessaries of Life and his absence Disinables me to bind out my Children, I therefore Desire you to bind out one of my Children Namely Godfrey Shelden to Michael Eddy with whome I have agreed to Live with him till 21 Years old to learn him the Trade of a weaver and to teach him to Read write and Cypher to be Capable of Keeping a book of accounts and to give him two Suits of Apparrell for all parts of his body the one an Every day Suit and the other for a Sabbath Day Suit -- from Pent:er {your} {Humble} {Servant}

This Indenture, made the Twenty nineth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Twenty between William Duane Thomas D Grover Silas Yerkes William Stevenson John Vallance, Lawrence Shuster Samuel Emlen Jr Joes B Sutherland & Henry Barrington Managers of the Almshouse and House of Employment of the City of Philadelphia, the District of Southwark and Township of the Northern Liberties, of the one part, and Aaron Kelle of the City of Philadelphia of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Managers, according to the form of the act of Assembly for the relief of the Poor, have put Abigal Edwards 16 years & 10 days old an Apprentice, to dwell with and serve the said Aaron Kelle his Executors, or Administrators, from the day of the date hereof, for and during the full term of One Year Eleven months & twnety days next ensuing, in all lawful and reasonable service.
And the said Aaron Kelle his Executors, or Administrators, during the said term, shall find and provide for the said Apprentice, sufficient meat, drink, apparel, washing and lodging; and shall teach or cause her to be taught the art and mystery of Housewifery and during said term, shall give her Two quarters half-day schooling, one half of which after he attains the age of fourteen years, and when free, two complete suits of clothes, one of which to be new.
This Indenture not to be assigned without the consent of the Managers for the time being.
In Witness whereof the said parties to these present have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year above written.
You are required at the expiration of this child's time, to come forward and satisfy the Board of Managers, that the terms of the Indentures have been complied with.

This Indenture made and entered into this the 9th of July 1823 between Joseph Dunwodie and Daniel Straton two of the overseears of the poore of the north East dis trict of the county of Campbell of the one part and Samuel Hubloued of the afforsaid county of the other part witnesseth that the aforsaid Joseph Dinwodie and Daniel Straton overseear as aforsaid hath by theas presents part, do place & bind two feemail children of coular bourn of Salley Valentine names [(towit)?] Lucey Valentine four years old on the 18th of December next Edey Ran dolph one year old the 14th of May last part to be apprentices to him the Said Samuel Hublourd to dwell with him from the date of theas presents untill the afforsaid Feemails shall each of them arive at the age of eighteen years and dureing all which time and tearms the Said Lucey Valintine and Eadey randelph shall well and faithfully serve the afforsaid Samuel Hublourd [their?] Master serve and obey all his lawfull commands do and perform all such business as they may be put too to the beast of their skill abilities and power and shall well and truly conduct them selves in apeacable ordley and quiet maner to him their said Master and his family and him the Said Said Samuel Hubburd doth on his part firmley promis and bind himselfe his Executors Heirs of to treat the feemails before mentioned in a heuman maner and during the learn they shall dwell with him provide them with food [illegible] clothing suitable within business and instruct them in the art of Farming and doth furthermore bind himself
