Dear Friends:

I have received your note and I was glad to hear from you,I hope that you do get over this way to see some of us, Mr Kellett tells me that you are coming over to one of our Sunday services.

I am enclosing a picture of the Kitten,who is no longer a kitten, but a full grown beautifull cat. It was a shame that I could not keep him here, there are just to many of us here and the poor little fellow was always upset.and not doing to well from all the kindness and attention that the men were giving him.not to mention food of all types, in great abundance.so I was forced to send him home where from the picture you will readily see that he is in good hands. Mother and Dad claim that he is the boss of that house.

With best wishes for you in all things.

I am Sincerely, [Signature] Eugene F, Budd.

Dear Friend;

I have been waiting to send along a few words to say how much I enjoyed seeing and hearing your words of encouragement, a few Sundays past, here in our Chapel at the State Prison, it was wonderfull, and I enjoyed it very much our little chat in the guard room after the service was over.

The other men that you visited with in the guard room, were very glad to meet you, and talk with you, I know them all quite well, and they are men that have always had very nice things to say about you and your work,

I have read the book that you left, "Inside" by Helen Bryant, it is a nice little book and very gentle I thought,Uncle Sam being a ery rich Uncle spends a little more money on his schools than some others do, I thought that was all very apparent int he book, Miss Bryant must be a very capable person and a very intersting person,

I hope that the Girls are getting some fun if nothing else out of the work with the plaster and molds,it is a wonderfull pastime, and I am sure that in this time they will get much more than just pastime from there efforts,

I cant think of much more to say at thsi time so I beleive that I will be clsoing wit hevery best wish for you and all your efforts,

Sincerely [Signature] Gene Budd...

Mr. Eugene Budd Box 100 Charlestown, Massachusetts

Dear Gene:

I'm not sure I thanked you for sending me the lovely picture of the Kitten taken in your parents 'home. I really do think it is an unusual photograph - even the color of the eyes are clear and beuatiful. I'm sure your pet is well cared for.

Just now I am returning from my vacation in Maine where I got up at 5:30 every morning as everyone must at the Audubon Camp, did my allotted share of work and then began classes in various phases of nature study by 8:00.

My best wishes are with you always.

Sincerely yours,

Miriam Van Waters
