Miriam Van Waters, Superintendent Reformatory for Women Framingham, Mass.
Dear. Mrs. Waters,
Enclosed are the six copies of the Mentor that you requested in your latest letter to me.
We heard your broadcast yesterday on station W.K.O.X and several commented on it. It should prove to be a very strong instrument for educating the public into a fuller understanding of these vital penal matters.
On my desk I have here an article about the uprising at Concord. It seems that the rioters, so-called, may face grand jury action. It seems to me that if this grinding-of-the-heel type of thinking is carried to its fullest extreme, that it will only bring heartache and will certainly finally result in problems necessitating a full an complete appraisal of these penal tensions. Stamping on 78 men is not goig ot prove anything or solve any of the present problems of anxiety.
We have all been constantly impressed with your spitit to fight on in the face of very strong criticisms from those around you.
Sincerely yours, Remeo A. Martin Editor
