Dear Dr. Miriam,

It is a somewhat dreary, rainy evening here at Concord, so I thought I would brighten up my corner by writing you an answer to your last letter. Your letters are always so welcome. But again I would caution you - please write only when you have free time to do so.

Prof. Clark was up last week and he seemed encouraged by the receptiveness of World Press. They made a few inquiries by mail and intend to get in touch with Guy Brown and the criminologist who made the evaluation for him. All in all, it sounds encouraging and as in all things, time will tell.

Mr. Stanring from the Mass. Service. Corp. was up to interview two of our S.D.G. boys last Monday in regards to obtaining employment for them. They seem to be very earnest, our two men from M.S.C.,

but I am putting my money on the efforts our S.D.G. men will make upon release.

A signal honor was paid to the S.D.G. program when the swearing in ceremonies of the two inductees who will work with S.D.G. was held here at Concord, in the presence of the inside members. And we have a top priority in the M.S.C. Our men will eventually be able to work with the M.S.C. in the areas we are most familiar in. Another goal step for S.D.G. and our good friends.

Larry Fuchs will be leaving us on August 12th. and our hearts go with him.

I never mentioned when I was to see the parole board simply because Jim and I felt that to enlist the aid of our friends of S.D.G., might be misinterpreted, and we decided very early in the life of S.D.G. not to do so. Jim saw the board in March and I later saw them in June. The results were the same. Perhaps we'll be luckier the next time.

Recently elected V. pres. of 618 Stamp Club. Now back to work on my exhibit. Yours in friendship, Donald

Dear Dr. Miriam:

It was good to hear from you and your gracious letter has made the rounds amongst the members of the S.D.G. And I received the commemorative stamp of Dante. I am really ashamed to say that I have read little of him, and that, only in sketches. Jim gave me a general run-down, and how I envy (just a little!) Jim's ability to consume everything he reads and the vast amount of reading he has accomplished.

Now I must add one word of dissapointment. Althought World Publishers asked Dr. Clark for the foreward. I have not as yet received word of acceptance. It would certainly seem that such was the case. Otherwise why the request for the foreward? I would assume that they are really giving it some thought and the foreward would be most important to them. Anyway, I took the liberty to send Dr. Clark your Regards to Mr. + Mrs. Thomas from us all.

letter and the kind thoughts you had in regards to a review. Perhaps we are putting the cart before the horse, but in any event, I asked Dr. Clark to contact you in this regard. Perhaps World Publishers would be interested in your views also. All this is somewhat over my head and that is the reason I requested Dr. Clark to contact you on his return from his vacation.

When I received the new issue of Dante, you put my mind to work. We of the stamp club have what is refered to as "doubles" in the stamp world. Some young persons in any hospital or anyone, including your students at Framingham would be welcome to them. I don't say that there will be any vast amoount but any of these people of your choice would be most welcome to them. You can let me know and I will prepare a package for you to take on your next visit, We will make it a present from S.D.G. and the men of Concord.

Yours with deep regard and love, Donald.
