Bureau Medical Information

Where specialized information on "Medical Problems" is Obtainable.

April 20, 1949

My dear, dear Catharine ;

Wee my dear Catharine you have company----ie my
eyes are terrible. Although I have three times consulted the occultist
and they say "no pathology" I am damn near crazy between pain, dizziness
and "blindness."

I am very thankful to Dr. Van Waters for sending
me a letter and\telling me about you; as I get so anxious.

On\Easter Sunday we drove as usual to Atlantic
City, enjoyed a walk on the board-walk, eat dinner and returned home
early with the hopes of avoiding traffic; but in spite of an early return
we had pleanty of company.- dare say more than a half million visitors
enjoyed the shore. More interesting all the oard-walk hotel are on
strike and gust had a splendid time carrying their own baggage etc.

On April 2 and 3 rd I attended a medical meeting
at the Hotel Statler in New York. Met Dr. Jos. Basso from Boston an old
friend of mine. Dont think you know him. He owns the Kenmore Hospital
Back-Bay, Boston. Also I think the Middlesex Hospital at 4th & Cambridge
Otis St; Cambridge.

Manual Prada has been in Ft. Lauradale, Fla; for
months while Dr. Walter Kennedy lives in Hyanis. Chas. Donovan[^?] I understand
sold his So; End; store and now controls only the Brighton and Harvard Ave.
one. Charlie I believe is worth plenty of cash-money. He followed Jerrys
ways of doing business. Made plenty of "pay-offs" and got away with all
but murder. Success to him. They tell me that Jimmy Brennan is dead.

Mother was 81 on April 5th and thank God she
continues to enjoy good health.

Catharine dear, I wont be happy until I see you,
Last month I was tempted a dozen times to drive up and say hello; but
"no-company." Now that Jackie goes to school we cant go as we please.
How I want you to see her. Indeed she is a young lady. 4'2 inches tall;
weight 80 lbs. Talking about weight, I have put on 40 lbs within a year.

As you kn^ow between 1940 and 1946 I was absent from
practice which put a hole in my pocket. Now that I have been able to
do a successful practive the past year, my etes are going bad.
