On the evening of Oct. 1935, the first regular meeting of the Elm Street Parent - Teacher Association for 1935 - 36 school year was held in the auditorium of Elm Street School.

The meeting was in the form of an informal reception for the teachers and parents especially the new parents and teachers.

After passing down a receiving line made up of present and past officers of the organization and a few out standing citizens of High Point, delightful refreshments were served from beautifully appointed tables by several Elm Street School parents.

had through participation in most informal "ice-breaker" games and contest.

Thus after a thoroughly enjoyed bit of fun and making of a much closer Parent - Teacher connection, the meeting was adjourned.

On the evening of Oct. [blank] 1935, the second meeting of the Elm Street Parent Teacher Association was held at the Elm Street School. This meeting being in the form of a Hallowe'en Festival, the business was dispensed with.

Each of the five groups of grades was responsible for a side show or booth of some description. Following a most entertaining and fun-making stage show put on by former students of Elm Street School, Parents, teachers and talented citizens of High Point, the side shows were opened.

The proceeds of this entertainment went to buy lunches for the needy children of the school.

The November meeting of the Elm Street Parent-Teacher's Association was held in the school auditorium on Nov. 11, 1936.

Mrs. H. I. Coffield, president of the Association, called the meeting to order. After the praying together of the Lord's Prayer led by Dr. T. Wingate Andrews, a welcome was extended by Mrs. Coffield to all the parents expressing her appreciation of their cooperation and attendance, especially the "Dads". Reports from the finance, membership and magazine committees were called for after which the President dispensed of farther business and turned the meeting over to Mrs. Fred P. Ingram, program chairman.
