1925

The Garden Club met with Mrs. Elwood Cox for our May 14th meeting. The roll call was dispensed and the minutes were read and approved.

Mrs. King announced that the prizes had been awarded to the school children who had won same for their poster work.

The club was glad to welcome Mrs. Joe Cox and Mrs. A. S. Calwell as new members.

Mrs. Jones was named chairman of the Com. to look after gov. films which were shown in the schools during week of May 16th.

For our program we enjoyed Mr. Gilmer from Winston who spoke to us on Dahlias and how to grow them. He gave us much valuable information about them. Mrs. Gilmer read us a poem on Dahlias.

After the club adjourned to meet May 27th with Mrs. H. A. White we enjoyed going through Mrs. Cox's garden.

The regular meeting of the Garden Club was held on May 27th with Mrs. H. A. White as hostess.

In the absence of both the pres. and vicepres., Mrs. White presided.

The minutes of last meeting were read and approved.

Mrs. Jones reported that the films on Garden Week had been shown in three schools and returned to Washington.

It was decided to omit the meeting on June 2nd and have an outing on June 16th. The kind of outing and place was next to the following Com: Mrs. Elwood Cox Mrs. W. C. Idol Mrs. S. H. Tomlinson

For the program Mrs. McEwen read a very interesting paper on "Arrangement of Cut Flowers." Mrs. Elwood Cox read a paper on the same subject written by Miss Effie Cox.

1925

The first meeting of the Garden Club since early summer was held Sept. 30th with Mrs. King as hostess. After roll call the minutes of last meeting were read and approved. A committee to arrange program for year was appointed as follows: Mrs. Virgil Idol, Mrs. Moffitt, Mrs. W. C. Idol, Mrs. Elwood Cox and Mrs. Tate.

A motion carried that we meet this year as last - on second and Fourth Tuesdays of each month.

After a discussion on State Federation of Garden Clubs which is being led by W. S. Garden Club, it was decided to have Sec. write Miss Maslin stating that club is interested and will send 2 delegates to meeting. Mrs. W. C. Idol, Mrs. King & Mrs. Tate were named as delegates.

The resignations of Mrs. G. Clark and Mrs. Cy Wheeler were accepted with regret.

For program Oct. 13 we will have a Round Table disscussion led by Mrs. Ragan, Taylor and Miss Blair.

The meeting adjourned to meet Oct. 13 with Mrs. White.

On Oct. 13th the Garden Club met with Mrs. White as hostess. After roll call the minutes were read and approved. The report of the program Com. was accepted. Notice was given of a suggested change in by-laws to be made a [month] from this date. The resignation of Mrs. Ragan was accepted with regret. The Sec. was instructed to write her a note expressing same, and inviting her to attend whenever possible.

The 2 delegates who are to attend meeting in Winston for discussion of Federation are to act according to their own judgment about joining same.

There being 3 vacancies in our membership names for new members are to be presented to Ex. Com. before next meeting. These names will be voted on at the next meeting.

The nominating Com. to submit names for officers for coming year as follows: Mrs. Calwell, Mrs. Steele, Mrs. Harmon, & Mrs. Siceloff

The Club adjourned to meet Nov. 3rd with Mrs. Tate.

The Garden Club met Nov. 3 with Mrs. A. E. Tate.

After roll call & reading of the minutes. The report of the Executive committee was read. The committee recommended that Mrs. W. H. Ragan be made an Associate Member. This was unanimously passed.

The committee also presented the following names for membership; Mesdames Sykes, J.E. Kirkman, A.S. Parker, Chas. Coble, J. M. S. Salsbury & Chas. Perry. The first three named were elected and the others add' ed to the waiting list.

The slate of the Nominating Com. was accepted by unanimous vote & the officers thereby elected. Pres. Mrs. A. E. Tate Vice pres. Mrs. S. H. Tomlinson Secretary Mrs. H. A. White Treasurer. Mrs. C. F. Tomlinson Librarian. Mrs. J. Elwood Cox
