Dear Eva:

Well I have just finished writing Faison a letter so I thought I would write you and Harry a line. There isn't much to write about, I am still doing the same thing trying to teach recruits. It will be a year next month since I was home, from the looks of things I guess it will be quite awhile before I can get a leave. I may be able to get one after xmas. This will be the fourth xmas I have been gone. This is the last year of my four year enlistment. I guess I will spend longer than four

years in the marine corps whether I want to or not. I beginning to think I should have joined the army to see some action. I have asked for a transfer to a combat unit so many times that I am just about ready to give up hope of getting it.

You know your younger brother is getting to be an old bachelor pretty fast it won't be long before I am twenty four. I guess Velma doesn't want me to write to her I haven't ever received her address or a letter from her. I guess she must be mad for some reason or other. How is High Point getting along? I don't imagine there is much doing there now is there? This San Diego is a bad place to be stuck in, they

really rob the servicemen here. I get up to Los Angeles & Hollywood once in awhile. They really treat servicemen swell there. I have seen and talked to most of the movie stars, they are for the most part swell people. Well I hope to hear from you soon. Give my regards to everyone.
