Dear Eva, I have received a couple of letters from you since I have last written so I will scribble off a few words to let you know I am alright. I am glad you have sent the fruit cake as I sure can use it. I will try to get you some souveneers if I can. Things are pretty expensive here. I am going on a tour of the Island starting tomorrow and lasting three days. I hope you didn't go to any bother about a Xmas present for me as there isn't anything I really need except to see the war end. I would hand in my resignation but I am afraid I wouldn't get an acceptance.
I hope Harry has had better luck with his fishing than he usually has. Every time you write he has gone fishing again. When this war is over I think I am going to be too lazy even to fish. From the looks of things now I may even be too old. I have something to look forward to now, they are baking cakes for us when we have a birthday and I will be twenty five in December. There is a plt. sgt. in the same company with me from Asheville so last night we got hold of a couple bottles of

whiskey and really had us a time. I don't think the other boys enjoyed it too much as they complained of our singing.
From the way we are having inspections and things I think they are grooming us for M.P. duty in Tokyo. Well Eva there isn't much more to gripe about so I will close for now give everybody my best.
