WE THINK the world is getting smaller, but the World of Bob Timberlake is getting larger. The successful collection introduced by Lexington Furniture Industries at the October '90 market is going to New York. The Lexington artist says that it's deja vu- the WBT collection and accessories line which will be part of the Lexington Industries new showroom at 53rd and Madison Avenue is within four blocks of where it all started for Timberlake. "It was exactly 20 years ago in January. I had appointments with two New York galleries - Kennedy and Hammer. It was my chance meeting with Victor Hammer that gave me my first exhibit and first national exposure as an artist" Timberlake said.

These members will be ecognized at IHFRA's annual Conference in Chicago, Ill., at the Westin Hotel, May 25-30. The Harold P. Braun Distinquished Service Award is the highest honor a member of IHFRA can receive, and is presented each year to a member whose individual efforts and abilities distinquish him or her, and enhance the image of the home furnishings representative. That award this year will go to Milt Jacobson, CHR, a member of the North Central HFRA and a past president (1981). The Georgia Home Furnishings Representatives Association has been selected as IHTRA's Chapter of the Year. The chapter launched a strong campaign aimed at sales tax legislation to be charged by all out-of-state furniture dealers who offer manufacturer discounts and whose customers are exempt from paying that state's taxes. A HIGH POINT furniture company has once again provided a "seat of power." The freshman delegation of the North Carolina General Assembly presented House Speaker Dan Blue with an executive-style secretarial chair covered in "Duke blue" leather from Ama Desk Company. The chair is built with a special canister that swivels high enough for the speaker, a Duke University law graduate, to preside over long sessions behind the lecturn while sitting down.

FACT: According to the City of High Point the market generates more than 470 tons of paper and cardboard each year. (Bobbi Martin is Senior issues Reporter for WHGPiedmont TV and talk show host for WMFR Radio).
