Chickens come next. All the large
ones you left are here, the four out of the
25 that Mrs Thrift left are doing
nicely give me no trouble at all
but the old ones want to set just
as bad as ever, I have to watch or
they would spoil all the eggs they
all like one nest, sometimes I get
so provoked I catch them by the
tail and throw them half way
across the yard (now laugh)
Yesterday I prepared mellon for
pickeling and read the Herald
in the morning after dinner rest
-ed soon Gracie came for her little
visit, then Minnie came and made
quite a social visit after she left
the two Mrs. Daltons came and pres
-ently Mrs. Lea came and we had
quite a sociable time, Mrs. D. [junior]
being the chief speaker and center
of attraction she is very enthusiastic
