My dear Daughter,

Your very welcome
letter came to hand Thursday, it was
a dark dreary day rained without
ceasing, and I had taken some cold
and felt badly so you can imagine
your pleasant letter was highly
appreciated. Mrs. Clark came to
-wards night, she too was glad
to hear from you and sent love

I could not judge the figure
of the carpet by the sample but will
say I would be much pleased to
have a new carpet and I think it
very cheap but just now I am not
prepared to invest so heavily the
room is 5 yds. square I think what we would
gain from the corner of the parlor would
