NORTH CAROLINA GUILFORD COUNTY

THIS DEED, made this the 17th day of April, 1944, by the City of High Point, a municipal corporation, created, organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of North Carolina, party of the first part to Flossie L. Reid, party of the second part, of said County and State. [in margin: 55]

WITNESSETH:

That Whereas, the party of the first part advertised the property hereinafter described for sale at public auction to the last and highest bidder for cash as provided by law; and,

Whereas, at eleven o'clock A. M., on the 3rd day of April, 1944, the hour appointed for said sale the party of the second part became the last and highest bidder for the land hereinafter described for the sum of One Thousand Seven Hundred and no/100 DOLLARS ($1700.00); and,

WHEREAS, on the 13th day of April, 1944, the City Council of the City of High Point in meeting duly assembled authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute and deliver to the party of the second part a good and sufficient deed to the property hereinafter described upon payment to the said city of said bid.

WHEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and the sum of One Thousand Seven Hundred and no/100 ($1700.00) DOLLARS ($170.00 in cash, and $1530.00 by promissory note secured by deed of trust) to the City of High Point, paid by the party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the party of the first part has bargained and sold, and by these presents does bargain, sell and convey unto the party of the second part and her heirs and assigns, a tract of land in the City of High Point, County of Guilford, and State of North Carolina, in High Point Township, and more particularly bounded and described as follows:

Being lot No. 9, block 14, of the High Point Development Company Subdivision as duly recorded in Office of Register of Deeds of Guilford County, N.C., book 53, page 561.

The above described property is being conveyed free and clear of all street assessment and all City and County taxes through the year 1944.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the parties of the second part, their heirs and assigns forever.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the said party of the first part has caused these presents to be signed in its name by its Mayor, and its corporate seal to be hereto affixed and attested by its Clerk, all by authority duly given, this the day and year above written.

This the 20th day of April, 1944, personally came before me, J. V. Wilson, Jr., a Notary Public of said County and State, Lois Welborn, who being by me duly sworn, says that she knows the official seal of the City of High Point, and is acquainted with Arnold J. Koonce who is Mayor of said City, and that she, the said Lois Welborn is the Clerk of the City of High City, and saw the said Mayor sign the foregoing instrument, and that she, the said City Clerk, as aforesaid, affixed said seal to said instrument, and that she, the said City Clerk, signed her name in attestation of the execution of said instrument in the presence of said Mayor of said City. Let the said deed and this certificate be registered.
