State of North Carolina, Guilford County.

This Deed made this the 20th day of December, A. D. 1915, by Ed. L. Ragan, Mortgagee and Bettie Corbit, Administratrix, of E. T. Corbit, Mortgagee and Assignee, of Guilford County, and the State of North Carolina, parties of the first part to W. C. Jones, of Guilford County, and the State of North Carolina, party of the second part,

Witnesseth, That whereas on the 28th day of November, 1911, John R. Davis and his wife Suda Davis, executed and delivered to the said Ed. L. Ragan, a bond, secured by a mortgage deed on the lands hereinafter described, which said mortgage deed is duly recorded in the Register of Deeds office for Guilford County, N. C. in Book No. 235, Page 168 etc; And whereas on the 9th day of Nov. 1915, the said note and mortgage for value received was transferred and assigned to Mrs. Bettie Corbit, Administratrix, of E. T. Corbit, deceased; And whereas a power of sale is given in said mortgage in default of payment of the principal and interest when due; And whereas the said John R. Davis and his wife Suda Davus failed and refused to pay off said bond and mortgage when due, and the said Ed. L. Ragan, Mortgagee, and the said Bettie Corbit, Administratrix, of E. T. Corbit, deceased, assignee, after advertisement made according to law for thirty days in The Review, a weekly paper published in High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina, at the Court House door, and four other public places in Guilford County, exposed to sale to the last and highest bidder, at public auction, for cash, in front of the Bank of Commerce, on Saturday, Dec. 11th, 1915, at 12, O'clock M. when and where W. C. Jones, became the last and highest bidder at the price of Seventeen Hundred Dollars ($1700.00) and became the purchaser.

Now therefore the said party of the first part inconsideration of Seventeen Hundred Dollars ($1700.00) to Mrs. Bettie Corbit, Administratrix, paid by the said party of the second

By virtue of the power of sale contained in a certain mortgage deed executed by John R. Davis and his wife, Suda M. Davis to Ed. L. Ragan, on Nov. 28th, 1911, and duly recorded in the Register of Deeds Office for Guilford County, N. C. in Book, No. 235, Page 168 etc. And for value received transferred, assigned and sold to Mrs Bettie Corbit, Administratrix, of E. T. Corbit, dec'd on Nov. 9th, 1915; and default having been made in the payment of the note, secured by said mortgage, the undersigned will sell for cash to the last and highest bidder, at public auction, in front of the Bank of Commerce, in the City of High Point, N. C., on Saturday, December 11, 1915, at 12 o'clock, M., the following described real estate, embraced in said mortgage to-wit: Being in High Point Township, Guilford County, North Carolina, adjoining the lands of E. A. Snow and others, and bounded as follows; Beginning at a stake on West side of Hamilton street, E. A. Snow's corner; thence along Snow's line Westwardly 150 feet to a stake; thence about South 65 feet to a stake; thence Eastwardly 150 feet to a stake; thence Northwardly on Hamilton street 65 feet to the beginning, containing 9000 square feet more or less.

part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part, and his heirs, the tract of land, embraced in said mortgage to-wit; Being in High Point Township, Guilford County, North Carolina, adjoining the lands of E. A. Snow and others and bounded as follow;

Beginning at a stake on the West side of Hamilton street, E. A. Snow's corner; thence along Snow's line Westwardly 150 feet to a stake; thence about South 65 feet to a stake; thence Eastward 150 feet to a stake; thence Northward on Hamilton street 65 feet to the beginning, containing 9000 square feet more or less, and being the "Home Place" of the grantors on Hamilton Street in the City of High Point, N. C.

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging, to him the said party of the second part, and his heirs and assigns forever, in as full and ample manner as the mortgagee and Assignee are empowered to convey the same and no further. In testimony whereof, the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

I, Will P. Ragan, a Notary Public of said County and State do hereby certify that Ed. L. Ragan, Mortgagee and Mrs. Bettie Corbit, Administratrix, of E. T. Corbit. Deceased, Assignee, grantors, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the execution of the foregoing mortgagees deed.

Witness my hand and Notarial seal this Dec. 20th, 1915. Will P. Ragan (seal) Notary Public.

My commission expires April, 20th, 1917.

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA GUILFORD COUNTY

The foregoing certificate of Will P Ragan Notary Public of said County, is adjudged to be correct. Let the said instrument and the certificates be registered.
