[letterhead: UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS]

Dear Sis;

I guess you think I have forgotten to write, but I haven't. The truth is I have been pretty busy. I finished up with my first platoon of recruits and am starting on my second. I suppose Henry is there now, if so tell him I said hello and to have a good time. This is quite a bit different from what I have been used to, it seems funny to be giving orders instead of taking them, Of course I still have to take orders too, but it is mostly confined to written orders.

I think I am getting along pretty good, I am getting plenty of sleep and the best food in the Marine Corps. I still get pretty restless at times to go back over there, but I guess it is just well that I don't. There isn't any use of carrying my luck too far. After I have seen some of the men they have bought back I realize how lucky I have been.

How is everyone getting along back in H.P.? How is my favorite neice getting along? Is she as cute as ever? Well I just wanted to let you know I am getting along O.K. Write soon.

Love Jewell

P.S. I am sending you a picture of the platoon I am helping to bring through training.
