This Indenture, Made this the Twenty ninth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, between Banks Tate and wife Martha Tate of the County of Rowan, and State of North Carolina, of the first part, and Miss Julia F. Welch of the County of Guilford, and State of North Carolina, of the second part,

Witnesseth, that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars, to the said parties of the first part in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained, sold and conveyed, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns, the following described real estate, situate, lying and being in the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina, bounded as follows, to wit:

Beginning at a Stone on Jamestown Street, and running South two hundred feet to a Stone, thence East One hundred and seventy two feet to a Stone thence North One hundred and forty one feet to a Stone thence West One hundred and seventy two feet to the beginning containing in all One half acre more or less and is situated in High Point and adjoins the lands of Green Bowman and others

To Have and to Hold all and singular the above granted premises, with the appurtenances, unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever.

And the said Banks Tate and wife Martha Tate parties of the first part, for themselves and their heirs, executors and administrators, do hereby covenant with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of the premises in fee-simple; that the said premises are free from all incumbrances; that they have good right and lawful authority to sell the same; and that they will warrant and defend the said premises unto the said party of the second part, her heirs and assigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever.

In Testimony Whereof, The said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.

State of North Carolina, ROWAN COUNTY.

Be it remembered, that on this 30th day of April 1892 before the undersigned, John A. Ramsay a Justice of the Peace of said County, personally appeared Banks Tate

and wife Martha Tate the grantors named in the foregoing deed, and acknowledged the execution thereof by them as their act and deed; and thereupon the said Martha Tate wife of Banks Tate being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her free consent to the execution of said deed* she on such separate examination, declared that she executed the same freely, of her own will and accord, and without any force, fear, or undue influence on the part of her said husband, or any other person, and doth still voluntarily assent thereto.

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, Rowan COUNTY.

I, W. G. Watson Clerk of the Superior Court of said County, do certify that John A. Ramsay whose genuine signature appears to the foregoing certificate is an acting Justice of the Peace for said County, and full faith and credit are due to his official acts.

Given under my hand and official seal, this the 30 day of April 1892. W. G. Watson Clerk Superior Court Rowan County.

State of North Carolina, GUILFORD COUNTY.

I, Jno. J. Nelson, Clerk of the Superior Court for Said County, do adjudge that the foregoing deed has been properly acknowledged, and that the foregoing certificate of W. G. Watson Clerk Supr. Court of Rowan Co. duly attested by his official seal is correct. Therfore let said deed, with the certificates be registered. This 16 day of Sept 1892 Jno. J. Nelson C. S. C.
