to buy something for English Catholicism at the cost of Irish liberty.

The only justification Ireland has for sending members to parliament at Westminster is that they can get her self government there - as things are tending the outlook for self government through the goodwill of any Westminster Parliament, Liberal or Unionist, grows darker and darker.

The only uncompromising Home Rule English members are the Labour men - the N. Belfast Election shows that some there can lend the weight of their organisation, officially, to a Labour candidate who openly proclaims himself a Unionist.

I read your article on that Election and agree with it. I do not know Lindsay Crawford nor anyone who is in touch with him.

The "future of Liberalism" indeed gives cause for anxiety. With such men as Roxbury, Haldane, Perks, Edward Grey and a score of others calling themselves Liberals -- when by rights they are only a newer brand of Imperialists -- the Liberal "Party" has cause to say "Save me from my friends."

These men are only Jingos in disguise to my mind--and they will stomach Chinese Labour and a host of other iniquities if thereby, they can own the machine.

Read the "Daily News" article in today's issue--"Slavery and the Flag" or Chinese Labour it is well worth attentive study.

The "Nationist" will be interesting -- so, too, will Mr. Russell's new paper the "Ulster Guardian". I don't like either title.
