and left about three oclock we preached the latter ground our brigade rushed in to the fight our reg behaved bravely we lost in our reg. 9 killed & 41 womean terible fighting I stayed all night at the hospital assisted with the wounded gave one dollar for a bunch of fodder for my horse the battle fought in the wilderness near mini run

Saturday 28 Started with the wounded in the rain to the front to the Corps hospital put a wounded man on my (__) I walked till 12 orders Came up to our Reg and brigade in line of battle Started for Robison terrace at headquarters skirmishes in front took Supper marched till 8 oclock in the night encamped for the night on the wet ground sleep well thank god for his goodness

Sunday 29 in camp all day rebels in our front behind their breast work great Maneuvering expect a fight here

Gen French determined to storm their works prevented by Gn Mead Great would have bean our loss if we had attacked their works no fighting all day only by the pickets, hold prayr in head quarters

Monday 30 rose at 1 oclock in the morning Started on march for the plank road leading from Fredericks burgh to Grasonville drew up in line of battle about 8 oclock cannonading commenced on our right to Left Skirmishes by the pickets. assisted in preparing a hospital four men wounded and got to the hospital at 1 oclock we left again on double quick for the (__) we left in the morning 2d Del came in as we were going out my health is good

Tuesday Dec 1st in Camp all day all is quiet in the front no fighting to day at 7 oclock the entire army

moved back for the Rapidan great excitement among st the troops all in motion a German in Co K in our Reg shot in the march accidentally reach the Rapidan and crossed on our Pontoon bridge encampt 1/2 mile this side about five oclock in the morning

Wensday 2d Started on march early in the morning Rebels Shelling us on our retreat but don us no harm encamped about 5 oclock for the night

Thursday 3 Started on march at 2 oclock in the morning and arrived at Brandy Station a little after sun rise tired and worn out having march 7 days & nights in the wilderness of Va I feal thankfull for the goodness of god to me my life limbs & health has bean preserved

Friday 4 the rebels followed us a cross the river orders given about 10 oclock last night to get ready for a

march about 11 or 12 oclock orders came not to leave as our troops had driven them back

Saterday 5 we received orders to change our camp. the division left for one mile 1/2 down the rail road towards Culpeper we encamped in Rebel camp Ground occupied the tents they had put up for (__) master men busily enga ged in friging up their quarter orders came to move the men chop fallen orders arrived about 1 oclock in the night not very well have the diarear but thankfull for the health that I enjoy

Sundy 6 very hot in the tent all day bad with the diarear no diner(?) of any kind to day Sutter came to day

Monday 7 diarrehaer still very bad bad in the tent all day

Tuesday 8 no better men busy friging(?) up quarters for winter no news in camp

Wensday 9 Still very sick taking medison but does not reach the disease

Thursday 10 am very sick no appetite to eat relish nothing but that I (__) not eat

Friday 11 diarear a little better but completely prostrate no appetite to eat think I shall have to leave if I am not better i am thankfull to god for his goodness to me

Saterday 12 am very unwell nothing new in camp Col Horn Left for washington

Sunday 13 applied for a sick leave of absence of 20 days visit the Brigade
