Friday Night
Dear Kids -
Everything nice happened today. Had a nice long letter from you + received pictures of the boys and my Staff Sgt. Didn't have to wait as long for that rating. I had a letter from Peggy + Mildred yesterday + Peggy said they were going to K.C. Wanted to know what I wanted to do with my things. Wish they had told me that when I was there so I could have taken care of them myself.
Had you said something to Jimmy to hurt his feelings in that picture by himself? Thelma (the first sgt.) + I room together and she gets the biggest kick out of the boys pictures, calls Jimmy the devils imp. She is rather tall + her hair is almost red. We get along well. Her boyfriend

is leaving soon. Every time I get up from my desk she never fails to say "Where are you going?" I stayed all night with Mama Lou Burton while on furlough + saw Jim + he got a divorce. I had him scared. I told him it wasn't worth a dime as long as I was in service + he didn't {struck through sign the] have me sign the papers. But I am glad he did. I think I will ask for a transfer later but I can't get any farther than Colo. unless I can get out of the third Air Force.
I get paid Sept. 10 this month as I was red lined + then I'll send you a package. I think we are going to be able to wear civilian clothes off duty. I am not sure yet.

Does G.W. like his work? What does he do? I guess I am just as well off here in the army. I make $96.00 now. All of my clothes, rent, food, transportation, doctor + dentist. I don't know where I can make that in civilian life. Do you? I think I am pretty well liked here. Every one treats me swell + I get along with Quartermaster. That is where we get our supplies.
It is still awfully hot here but I do hope it turns cool soon. Write often for that is all we can do + we are so far away that is all that we can do.
